CPA Pasadena Alternative

CPA Pasadena AlternativeA made up six weeks

Sometimes the useful thing is the shape without anyone's numbers. This page is a hypothetical. No client is described.

Talk about your own quarter
A horse in a saddle, close and calm

The shape, amounts left off

Say an owner watched six weeks of a turnaround land inside one quarter. Revenue jumped. Contract labor jumped. The next month went quiet. Someone, trying to be kind, smoothed the six weeks until the year looked ordinary.

The kind version hides the truth. A lender reading the ordinary year would not know the shop can surge. The owner, reading it in October, would not know whether to hire, to park cash, or to change how the company is taxed.

In the version we would rather see, each month is closed on its own. The six weeks stay loud. No wage total is printed on this page because any total would be invented. What this page is for is the shape of those six weeks, with the amounts left off.

What the owner could still decide

While the year is open, estimates can be reset from the surge instead of from last year. A conversation about entity tax can happen before the election window closes. Equipment that arrived and stayed can be listed for the rendition instead of remembered in a panic.

None of those decisions require a signed attest cover. They require months that tie to the bank. That is the work.

If this shape is not your year, the page can still be useful as a picture of what we refuse to smooth. Your own file stays off the page.

Week by week, still with the amounts left off

Week one is the callout. People arrive, gear is rented, and the first invoices go out before anyone has named the accounts. Week two and week three are the body of the job, when per diem and contract labor pile up faster than the bookkeeping. Week four is the restart, when the plant is loud again and the invoices are still catching up. The two weeks after that are quiet, and they are the ones a kind person is tempted to blend backward into the surge.

In October the owner opens the year and cannot tell whether to hire, to park cash, or to ask whether the company should be taxed a different way. The smoothed year says everything is fine. The closed months say the surge was real and the quiet weeks were real too. Decisions need the second picture.

A lender reading the smoothed year would underwrite a company that never had a surge and never had a lull. That is a kindness to nobody. We would rather the six weeks stay visible, with no invented wage total and no invented profit, so the reader of this page can recognize the shape without borrowing anyone's file.

The San Jacinto Monument is a short drive from the channel plants, and people here grow up knowing which week the battleground draws a crowd. We are Texans. We can hold that pride and still refuse to average a working season into a flat line. The monument is not our office. The refusal is the work.

If your own six weeks look like this shape, the form does not need the amounts. Say that the quarter swelled and the following month went quiet. We will ask for the file only after both sides know the scope. A smoothed year is the one thing we will not build for you. The shape is enough to start.
